1944年8月，苏联红军继续进攻波兰东部。中尉叶戈罗夫的小分队接到任务，为保证部分红军过河要守住桥。战士们在阵地上发现一个被毁坏的修道院，里面有一群孤儿和修女耶娃，她已失去信仰，已在营救无助和无人保护的孩子们中找到了生活的意义。叶戈罗夫中尉应该执行指挥部的、会威胁波兰孩子生命的命令。战士们都竭尽全力，以保证孩子们的安全……。Howard Tyler (Frank Lovejoy) is a family man, living in California, who can't seem to get by financially. He meets up with a small-time, but charismatic, hood Jerry Slocum (Lloyd Bridges). Soon, Slocum convinces Tyler to participate in gas station robberies to get by. Later, they kidnap a wealthy man in hopes of getting a huge ransom. Things go wrong when the man is murdered by...。
